What to know before starting
What is protected?
Email and attachments in Exchange Online, files and versions in OneDrive and SharePoint document libraries, and Power Automate cloud flow definitions. Coverage differs by service and plan. See services and limitations.
Where is backup data stored?
Encrypted backup data is stored in Germany. Hosting and arrangements are documented in the data processing agreement.
Which plan suits us?
Essential includes Exchange Online, OneDrive and SharePoint with retention up to one year. Compliance adds Power Automate, longer retention and more storage. Compare plans.
How does included storage work?
Essential includes 50 GB and Compliance 100 GB of stored backup data per user, pooled across the organisation. Usage is measured after compression and deduplication. Additional storage costs € 10 per 100 GB per month excluding VAT. You receive a notification at 80% of included storage.
Can we recover a former employee’s data?
Previously captured data can be recovered within retention. If the original environment is unavailable, a suitable destination within the same organisation is required.
How do we know a backup succeeded?
The portal shows connected services and the last successful processing time. Periodic recovery checks also help verify that you can find data and use the recovery procedure.
How quickly can we recover data?
This depends on volume, saved content, permissions and Microsoft. See the recovery example. No fixed recovery time is promised.
What do we need to get started?
An authorised administrator grants access to Microsoft 365. We agree coverage, retention and access, then check the first backup. Discuss your environment.
